I started thinking that maybe I should blog about something other than infertility. Otherwise, this blog might get very depressing really quickly. Besides, it will take my mind off of things and hopefully will prevent me from roundhouse kicking a certain nurse in the face. (Roundhouse kick: that's a thing, right? My dad and Patrick Swayze would be proud.)
Anyway, we were under contract on an amazing house about 2 weeks ago. It was a foreclosure, and we thought it was perfect (except for the synthetic stucco). Then we had it inspected. Ouch. There were issues with the stucco and mold and RATS. As in vermin. Our cats were SO excited. After sleeping on it though, we decided it was not the house for us. We are still very disappointed and speak of this house often. However, the search continues, and our buyer's agents are awesome. (They're twins. If you need a recommendation, let me know.) We've looked at many more houses, but nothing has tickled our fancy as of yet. So, if you know of anyone that has a cheap mansion for sale with at least 4 bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, a basement, a pool and hot tub, a huge yard, preferably in the city limits or at least in Natasha's neighborhood, please advise. I think we might be searching for the chupacabra, but it is fun to look!

The waiting continues
After waiting all week, calling and e-mailing my temporary nurse, she finally e-mailed me back last night at 8:30 to tell me the doctors had NOT determined my protocol in their meeting last Monday. (They only meet on Mondays.) She offered no explanation for the delay, but I feel pretty certain it has something to do with her. I'm to the point where I'm ready to lose my temper, but I know I'm stuck with her until April when my normal nurse returns. I also realize she's covering double her normal patient load, but it's just exhausting to beg for communication. You would think after more than 4 years of dealing with waiting, I would have developed a little more patience. Alas, it is not so. I have none. Not where this is concerned anyway.
So now the nurse says the doctors will be meeting to determine my protocol this Monday, and that she'll contact me next week. I'm not going to hold my breath. I also fear that this delay will mean we will have to wait until my next natural cycle to start, which will mean another month of waiting. Serenity now. . .

Jenny's Blog
I just wanted to share a post from my friend Jenny's blog. She's a writer, an all-around beautiful person, and my heart likes her heart.

And so it begins. . .even though it already began.
Hello loved ones. Welcome to my secret blog. I'm pretty sure almost everyone I have invited to read this knows at least the basics about our struggles to conceive. Maybe I will explain the details in another post. Then again, maybe I won't. For now, let's just say we are about to start IVF. . .
Let me begin by admitting that I am a pretty moody person. (Don't act like you hadn't already noticed.) I am also introverted as it is, but I really tend to withdraw when I'm stressed, so I think this will be the best way to keep everyone informed about the extremely complicated treatments we are about to experience.
Next, I would like to extend some thank yous. Infertility is especially cruel because it is a grief that repeats itself over and over again on a monthly basis. In many ways, it is something only people that have been through it can truly understand. The cycle of hope and despair is a difficult one to endure, and one that made me overwhelmingly grateful for the support of my husband, friends and family. You have repeatedly comforted me even after I became not much more than a pile of tears and snot-bubbles. You love me even when it isn't easy, and even when I am a complete drag to be around. Thank you doesn't seem like nearly enough, but it will have to do for now.
Lastly, here is where we are: the team of doctors at ACRM is meeting today to determine my "protocol" for IVF. This basically means that all six of the reproductive endocrinologists are pouring over my charts, discussing my issues, and determining my medication dosages. The nurse is supposed to call me "sometime this week". Unfortunately nothing happens quickly. My temporary nurse is annoyingly distant, and my normal nurse is out on maternity leave. Oh, the irony. I will post again when I hear back from the nurse. Until then, I love you all.
